Yesterday, Jason Wu showcased his first collection for BOSS womenswear during New York Fashion Week and even though Mr. Wu, who is best known for designing glorious gowns for the first lady Michelle Obama, perhaps wasn’t the obvious choice considering BOSS’s image as a sophisticated brand offering modern business wear, he did a splendid job.
In i mini forrest replicated with the aid of mirrors, tree trunks, moss and white flowers, the models, starting with Edie Cambpell, walked down the runway in perfectly tailored suits, coat dresses, slim tuxedos and sequin dresses. The collection was a perfect balance of BOSS’s sharp, clean tailoring and Wu’s feminine, soft elegance with colors like black, charcoal, camel and blush.
It’s clearly that Wu has gotten into the DNA of the brand, and maintained the BOSS polish while adding his own touch.
