Cartier opens in Copenhagen

image001Every fashionista who’s gone through Copenhagen in the past year can testify that something’s going on at Illum. The historic department store facing Store Torv underwent an ambitious renovation last year, and could upon opening invite shoppers to new boutiques by Prada, Bucherer, and an Eataly outpost for some high-quality shopping fuel. More and more, Illum begins to feel like department store of an international caliber, while keeping its distinct Scandinavian charm. But wait, there’s more! Today, on March 13th, Swiss watch maker Bucherer opens a corner dedicated to Cartier’s fine time pieces, in its distinct color scheme of gold and red. Cartier was founded in 1847 in Paris, and has since become one of the world’s most celebrated jewel producers, having been famously declared “jeweler of Kings, King of Jewelers” by Prince of Wales and future King of England, Edvard Vll. If in Copenhagen, run down to Illum to snatch the crown – it won’t be free, but it’ll definitely be worth it…
