Although we’re called DANSK, we still consider ourselves largely Scandinavian – and there’s nothing that we love more than run off to our neighboring capitals for an extended weekend of shopping. Stockholm not only boasts incredible architecture, a great metro, and overpriced beer, but also wonderful luxury retail experiences. This month, the city welcomes a new member to its very highest tier of store experience – while welcoming back an old friend. Today, March 8, marks the opening of Totême’s first global flagship, opening their doors in a recently renovated two-story site on Biblioteksgatan in central Stockholm. Since launching in 2014, the Swedish-American womenswear label have taken the world by storm with their take on the “everyday uniform” for the chicest ladies. The store itself is conceived by renowned architect Christian Halleröd, whose other store achievements include Frame in NY as well as Byredo and Acne Studios in Copenhagen. The result is “a shopping experience more similar to one in New York than in Stockholm,” says the brand itself – which includes the opportunity for pre-booked visits, express door-to-door delivery, and a member’s feature.
The other opening is an old friend: the inimitable Chanel. After temporarily occupying Norrlandsgatan 5 with a luxurious pop-up over the winter, the historic French house is finally back in their old quarters on Birger Jarlsgatan 7, in a fully re-designed space. Featuring the latest collection from Mr. Lagerfeld (whose passing we’re still processing this week), as well as handbags, shoes, eyewear and accessories, the store will spread across two floors and try to offer clients “the ultimate shopping experience.” How’s that for a facelift!
