A new exhibition in Paris’ Grand Palais traces the rich legacy of Louis Vuitton and their contribution to luxury voyage gear.
Entitled “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton”, the exhibition creates a historical overview of what led the French maison from a local producer of suitcases and trunks in Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris, to the global fashion and accessory brand with more than 3,700 locations worldwide. The heritage of Vuitton is the perfect prism to study the transformation of travel (from the rise of yachts and steamer boats to the explosion of luxury aerotravel), and with fashion curator Olivier Saillard (the very best, previously having staged exhibitions at Musée de la Mode in Paris and Marseille, the Musée Bordelle and the Victoria & Albert museum in London) as project leader, the exhibition will without a doubt be more than worth a visit.
“Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton” at the Grand Palais from 4th December 2015 till 21st February 2016. Free entry, but booking is essential.
